Girls Like Us Issue 15, THE VORTEX, is a special collaboration with Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian and Trans Bar***, the Brussels-based community project created as a space for trans and lesbian people and their wider communities.

After eight years of building community, creating encounters and holding space in Brussels and beyond, Mothers & Daughters is coming to a close. Rather than simply marking an ending, THE VORTEX looks towards what comes next: the futures that remain possible, the connections that endure and the communities that continue to grow.

Created collectively with members of the broader Mothers & Daughters and Girls Like Us family, the issue brings together new writing, conversations, interviews and visual works, forming a multifaceted portrait of a community in transition.

Part archive, part celebration and part invitation, THE VORTEX honours the people and energies that shaped Mothers & Daughters while gathering ideas, memories and resources for future trans and lesbian organising in Brussels and beyond.

A document of a moment, a record of a community and a vessel for everything that refuses to disappear.
